Key Transitional Housing was founded by Lakisha Bailey McLeod, affectionately known by friends, family, colleagues, and business associates simply as "Key."

 

For those who know her, the nickname has come to represent more than a name—it reflects her passion for opening doors, creating opportunities, and helping others unlock new beginnings.

That same philosophy inspired the creation of Key Transitional Housing.  As an entrepreneur and community advocate, Key is committed to providing safe, professionally managed housing that restores dignity and creates pathways to long-term independence. With a career built on service, leadership, and helping others navigate life’s most important decisions, she recognized a common truth: stable housing is often the first and most important step toward rebuilding a life.

 

Whether serving veterans, survivors of domestic violence, or individuals seeking a second chance, she believes every person deserves the opportunity to rebuild in an environment rooted in respect, accountability, and hope. Rather than viewing housing as a temporary solution, Key envisioned an organization that delivers exceptional housing standards while building meaningful partnerships with landlords, healthcare providers, employers, veteran organizations, government agencies, and community leaders. Her goal is to create communities where people are empowered to move from stability to independence.
